Cumberland County GOP Chairman Challenges Magazzu

Some strong words from Bob Greco to Lou –  maybe no f-bombs – but is Lou going to be a man and respond?

Greco to Magazzu: “I want you!”

Millville – Cumberland County GOP Chairman Robert “Bob” Greco challenged Cumberland County Democrat Chairman Lou Magazzu to step into the ring for a charity boxing match benefitting the Police Athletic League.

Sounding much like Apollo Creed of Rocky fame Chairman Greco exclaimed, “Lou… I want you!”

“Come on Lou, let’s do this, it’s for PAL,” Greco said. “You’re going to be there as a referee for the Romano – Shannon bout, there’s no reason you can’t step into the ring with me. If it helps I’ll tie one hand behind my back,”

“I’ll be there ready to go,” Greco continued. “The only reason I can think that Sweet Lou Magazzu wouldn’t step into the ring with me is that he thinks he might have a better chance at beating Jane Christy.”

“Sweet Lou is a powerful man. I think he should show us what he has in the ring,” Greco said. “I’ll be there and Lou will be in the building too. The only thing that’s left to find out is whether or not Lou is man enough to step into the ring for the kids.”

    Pretty stupid move.

Can’t match wits so you, essentially, challenge a guy to a fight?

I’m never behind Lou, but telling a guy you want to fight him makes me pretty much think that you are the loser, not him.

  2. SalarySam says:

I’m thinking this is trying to add some levity to the interaction.

  3. Lobster Claws says:

The tone of the press release is very aggressive and antagonistic.

I think this, if it gets widely reported, which it hasn’t yet, will be a misstep for the republicans.

  4. Deparego says:

    This is ridiculous.

  5. Robert Greco says:

This is a way to help to raise money for the Vineland PAL. Two highly respected Mayor’s Bob Romano and Tim Shannon are engaging to help the youth of our community. This is not a real fight, it is for fun. The antagonistic statment is from Mr.Magazzu who said in the News “He won’t swim down stream” inferring we all are beneath him if we are not a Freeholder. Shame on him!

  6. Lobster Claws says:

Sorry Bob, I have to disagree with you.

You’re about as subtle as a punch to the head.

When you say things like “I’ll tie a hand behind my back,” “he thinks he might have a better shot at beating Jane Christy,” and “wether or not lou is man enough to step into the ring,” it makes you look like a bully.

I like you Bob, but you should have thought this one through.

  7. Salary Sam says:

Sounds like he was going for a “Rassling” like challenge in the context of a charity boxing match. Like when they have fund raisers where they “arrest” people and you have to get people to donate money to “bail” you out or, like was done at the Puerto Rican Festival in Vineland last week, a dunking tank is run where public figures voluntarily and in good humor are playfully “humiliated” by being dunked. You’re missing the humor and light hardheartedness of it LC.

  8. tryagain says:

I hear others from Cape May County may be interested in fighting Greco?

  9. SalarySam says:

I guess it really shouldn’t be boxing but Greco-Roman wrestling.

  10. tryagain says:

Roman not the correct last name!

  11. Curious says:

Lou is very vicious with his mouth. He is a coward when it comes to anything even close to physical contact. It is a play match. Tyoical obnoxious condescending rudeness from Lou. And he is the leader of our 14 towns? Cumberland County deserves to have someone with at leasr a touch of class. Lou has none.

  12. tryagain says:

Touch of class like Greco? Cape May Greco? Sure there are some from his former home county who would love the opportunity of entering the ring with him! What do you think, Bob? Willing to give it a go?

  13. Curious says:

You are changeing the subject again. Lou is the publically elected offical, not Greco. Shows the problem of county chair and elected offical.
Lou cannot seperate the two. It will be a fatal mistake. No response to the physical coward. Hit’s too close to home.

  14. tryagain says:

Greco is also the County Chair of Cumberland for the Republicans. I have heard there is at least one person from Cape May who woul;d love to get in the ring with him!! Still waiting for the answer Bob!

  15. tryagain says:

Think maybe the Cape May challenge to Greco hits to close to home? Very interesting match up!

  16. whoknew says:

Greco’s offer to take on Lou is a real threat to this bully. His Italian manhood has been challenged. Peel back the top layer of his skin and you will find a big yellow streak. Lou would rather continue fighting women, the coward that he is. The women he has offended should get together and gang up on this sissy. Maybe that is what Jane and Jennifer are doing? To get serious, this election is about better County leadership. The bully who sits at the top of County government making all of our decisions has to be voted out. Bottom line.

  17. tryagain says:

Still waiting for Greco’s answer to a possible match pitting him against some foremer person or persons from his former Cape May County? Are you “UP” for it?
