The state Division of Criminal Justice has subpoenaed the county’s nursing home for all patient admission records for the past seven years, Cumberland County officials confirmed Thursday night.
In a statement issued late Thursday, county Solicitor Brendan Kavanagh said the county is limited in what it can say about the case because it is “an ongoing investigation.”
“We are, however, cooperating fully and are gathering all the documents requested in the subpoena,” he said.
Earlier Thursday, Freeholder Director Louis Magazzu said a three-person committee will comply with the subpoena. “We will cooperate fully,” he said
The subpoenas are in reference to alleged fraud that occurred at the Manor. It should be noted that Lou Magazzu is listed as a member of the advisory board, and Joe Pepitone, up for re-election this year is the Freeholder liaison. If fraud did in fact occur, it happened under the watch of Magazzu, yet another example of his inability to lead.
I understand that certain email records were also subpoenaed. As I hear more, you can be sure that I will keep you posted!
