Magazzu Watch has long detailed the special relationship between Lou Magazzu and the chairman of the Bridgeton Democratic Party, Todd Edwards. We posted the details of his drug bust, and some of our contributors familiar with the case gave even more information that the local press, afraid of repercussions form Magazzu, chose to ignore. You can be sure that if a Republican chair was implicated in even half of the allegations directed at Edwards, they would fill the front pages.
According to my source, on Election Day for Bridgeton City Council last year, May 11, it seems that Edwards was behaving in an extremely impolitic manner. Then Mayor Jim Begley was at the polling station in his district, curious about numbers and all. In walks Todd Edwards, at a polling location that is not in his voting district, and begins to verbally attack Begley.
Begley had asked a local resident if he could place signs on the resident’s yard for election day, and the resident readily agreed. Apparently Edwards stole the signs, and then accosted Begley. Begley informed Edwards that he had permission, and after cursed at with the foulest of language, Begley replaced the purloined signs.
Edwards went back, and stile THOSE signs. I wonder what will happen with this incident. Apparently Lou agrees that his chairman should not be reprimanded for theft, or for violations of ELEC rules. This is politics at it’s worst, and this is the only way a Democrat is allowed to play under Magazzu. Play dirty, lie, steal – hell, smoke a joint – as long as you are a loyalist, you cannot be touched!
As I get more information on this incident, I will post it.
