RD Owens joins the fray…

Ardent blogger RD Owens joined the discussion, blasting Magazzu and Jannarone for refusing to follow through and refuse to have the taxpayers pay for their health benefits.

Do you recall the hoopla about benefits for part-time employees? Cumberland County and the City of Millville both tackled the issue. Millville axed health benefits for its City Commissioners. Lou Magazzu and company made headlines acting as though they too were going to cut benefits of part-time workers, including the freeholders.

The thing is, the freeholders haven’t actually followed through with their actions. According to today’s Daily Journal, the freeholders have dragged their feet on the issue.

Will the Bridgeton Sewer board still get health benefits too?

  2. JamesRSauro says:

What matters more to me than the health care is that they lied to us again. They did not do what they said they were going to do. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. Are you??????

  3. Deep Throat says:

I warned you all back in January that Magazzu used the word CONSIDER giving up the health benefits. He is the master at making the public believe he is dealing with a tough issue. He knows the public and the Press have a short attention span. He will make a lot of noise, call for a study, demand change, and then just drop the issue. The public thinks it was dealt with. The Press rarely follows up.
Classic Lou smoke & mirrors. He has done it a hundred times.

  4. Lobster Claws says:

I agree, no taxpayer should have to pay for any public employee’s health insurance. Owens seems like a pretty progressive guy.

  5. WuLi says:

Owens is a school teacher – but he understands the difference between right and wrong. He and I don’t always agree, but I think he understands me, and I understand that he is always coming from a moral perspective.
