Identity Theft? SSN System Glitch?

How many social security numbers do you have? How many identities to you have? I worry when people have too many SSN’s – it means that something fishy is going on.

The other day a mysterious package was delivered. It contained hundreds of megabytes of files – the majority were Skiptrace America searches. Skiptrace is an online service that private investigators, law enforcement, bounty hunters and I believe even lawyers are allowed to subscribe to. The two that caught my eye were SSN number searches – Marcus Wilson’s SSN apparently was entered, and the results are below. I blanked out the first five digits in the interest of privacy.

What caught my eye is that Marcus Wilson shares an SSN, birth date and some prior addresses with M. Nilsson. To be absolutely fair, Marcus might be the victim of identity theft – it happens all the time. If this is the case, he needs to go to immediately! However, as Marcus Wilson is partner in a tax preparation business, I suspect he understands the importance of safeguarding personal information.

Now, however ran these reports, and I don’t know which one came first, apparently was suspicious of M. Nilsson and Marcus Wilson (similarity of names?) they they did a search on Nilsson, and discovered that Nilsson AND Wislon not only shared birth dates and addresses and one SSN, but they also both had ANOTHER SSN! Again, see the second page, with the first five digits blanked.

There was so much more in the packet I received, and I am still trying to make heads or tails of everything.  As I sort through it, I will be posting.

KILL THAT LINK to!!! They’re known scammers and it isn’t really free. Better you should point people to

@P4D – I thought it entirely appropriate to point a scammer to a scammer! I suppose I should have warned our readers, though.

Why is any one running a skiptrace on Marcus Wilson?

America Search operates in full compliance with Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and all privacy law.

    Or there’s this America Skiptrace…..

Since 1980, American Research Bureau, Inc. has been providing the legal, insurance and banking industries with expert skip tracing and asset location services.

Questions asked on the website of for doing a Skiptrace:

1.Yes, this matter is the result of a default contract.
2.Yes, I have a judgment or signed promissory note.
If either of the above are marked “Yes”, please fax or e-mail a copy for our files.
This information determines if we are able to access the subject’s credit report

I’d really like to know why someone is running a skip trace on him and dropping it on your door steps?
